I found a notice on your site that asked whomever is reporting graffiti problem to " call 9-1-1 to notify law enforcement on Bainbridge or Kitsap Co. of the graffiti so they can investigate it before it's removed!!
I think that calling 9-1-1 is a bad call for the purposes of reporting graffiti!
A better process would be for your office to establish communication with local law enforcement in the affected jurisdiction via copy of my report and give them a 72 hr window to investigate. Then your folks can go in and remove it!
Graffiti is a problem for business, public and law enforcement as well as community at large. It points to gang territory in some cases.
It's time to educate the public about what it represents and their responsibility to report it then remove it in private property areas.
Sincerely,
Michele Erskine

Hi Michele,
Hi Michele, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. City staff does contact the Police Department when we receive a notification regarding graffiti. We are asking residents reporting graffiti to also contact the Police Department so that we can expedite the removal of graffiti. For example, if the graffiti is reported on a Saturday, City staff may not be aware of the report until Monday morning. When they view the report they would then contact the Police Department to complete their investigation. After the investigation is completed, City staff would then remove the graffiti. If the resident reporting the graffiti on See, Click, Fix also calls 9-1-1, the investigation could be completed by Monday morning and the graffiti could be immediately removed. Additionally, in the case of offensive graffiti, calling 9-1-1 could allow us to deal with the situation much more quickly. I hope sharing this information with you helps to address your concerns regarding our process. Thank you- Kellie Stickney
